Who We Are
Manzil Commute is a ride-sharing platform exclusively for women, based in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The app connects female passengers with female drivers for safe and affordable commuting. Manzil Commute processes personal information in accordance with the applicable laws of Pakistan, including the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA) and any other applicable data protection legislation in force. Information We Collect
We may collect the following information: • Phone number (OTP login and account identity) • Full name • Date of birth • Email address • Profile photo (optional) • Location data • Device push notification token For drivers only: • CNIC images • Driving licence images • Verification selfie • Vehicle details and photographs App Permissions: The app requests access to location, microphone, and notifications. These permissions are used solely for the functions described in this policy.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used for: • Ride matching and trip processing • Fare calculation • Notifications • Driver identity verification • SOS and safety monitoring • Account management • Driver billing • Legal compliance We do not sell your personal information, share it with third parties for their own purposes, or use it for advertising.
Who Can See Your Information
During a matched trip: • Passengers can see: Driver's first name, profile photo, vehicle details, star rating. • Drivers can see: Passenger's first name, profile photo, pickup location, drop-off location, star rating. For carpool trips, co-passengers can see each other's first name and pickup point for the purposes of coordinating the shared ride. No additional personal information is shared between co-passengers. Phone numbers are never shared directly. Calls and chat occur only through the app.
Location Data
Passengers: Location is collected only while booking a ride or participating in an active trip. Background location is not collected when there is no active trip. Drivers: Location is collected continuously only while the driver is online. Tracking stops immediately after the driver goes offline. Location data is never sold or used for advertising.
Identity Documents (Drivers)
Driver verification documents are stored in encrypted storage, accessible only to authorised Manzil Commute administrators, used solely for identity verification, and never shared with passengers or displayed publicly. Documents are retained for the duration of the active driver account plus 2 years, after which they are permanently deleted.
Emergency Contacts
Emergency contact information is securely stored, linked to your account, and used only when SOS is activated. It receives a single SMS only during an SOS event, is never used for marketing, and is deleted when your account is deleted.
Third-Party Services
Manzil Commute engages trusted third-party service providers to support essential platform functions, including user authentication, notifications, cloud storage, email delivery, and hosting. Personal information is shared with such providers only to the extent necessary for them to perform these services on our behalf and in accordance with appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
Data Retention
Active account data: Until account deletion. Trip records: 2 years. Chat messages: 90 days after trip completion. Chat records related to active safety investigations: Retained beyond 90 days until the investigation is resolved. Identity documents: Active account + 2 years. OTP codes: Deleted immediately after verification. Inactive account data: Deactivated after 24 months of inactivity. Backup copies of deleted data: May be retained temporarily in system backups before permanent deletion.
Law Enforcement & Legal Disclosure
Manzil may disclose user information where required by applicable law, court order, lawful government request, or where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, protect users, enforce our Terms, or comply with legal obligations.
Account Deletion
Users may request deletion of their account through the application or by contacting privacy@manzilcommute.com. Upon deletion, personal information will be removed or anonymised in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Certain information, including completed trip records or financial records, may be retained where required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
Your Rights
You have the right to: • Request a copy of your personal data • Correct inaccurate information • Request deletion of your account • Withdraw consent for non-essential processing To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@manzilcommute.com. Privacy requests are answered within 14 business days.
Security
Manzil protects your data using: • HTTPS/TLS encrypted communication • Expiring and rotating authentication tokens • Encrypted isolated storage for identity documents Passwords are never stored. In the event of a data breach affecting user personal information, Manzil will take reasonable steps to notify affected users and mitigate harm.
Children & Age Eligibility
Drivers must be at least 18 years of age. Passengers must be at least 16 years of age and must hold a valid Smart Card or CNIC. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the minimum age. If you believe an ineligible user has registered, contact privacy@manzilcommute.com.
Changes to This Policy
Manzil may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves. Users will receive at least 7 days' notice through push notifications before any changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
